Principal's Message

With the first term just past, it is a wonderful time for students to make goals that lead to academic success.  The staff would like to offer these reminders and supports to help students make the most of their education at Carson Elementary.

  • Showing up is a prerequisite to success in anything that we do. Data shows that students who typically have more than 5 absences or 5 tardies have lower grades than their peers. Being late to class, even occasionally can make it challenging to get all the information needed to be successful in class, as the introduction to the day’s lesson happens when the bell rings.
  • Organizational tools can help students stay on track in their class. Many families take a few minutes each day to talk to their student is doing in class, including any homework or projects that may be due.
  • Personal, daily reading time is one of the best ways you can help your child become a great reader.  Help your child get a library card and pick out books of interest.  Set aside quiet time each day for reading.
  • Checking Skyward is a great way to stay informed on how your student is doing in class. Teachers at Carson Elementary are beginning to use this as a tool to help you stay informed. There is information about attendance and grades.  If you need help accessing Skyward, please call our office.

For more information on how we can support your child, contact your teacher.
