Principal's Message

The new semester is a great time of the year and an opportunity for fresh starts.  With a new term starting it is a wonderful time for students to make goals that lead to academic success.  The staff would like to offer these reminders and supports to help students make the most of their education at Carson Elementary.

  • Showing up is a prerequisite to success in anything that we do.  Data shows that students who typically have more than 5 absences have lower grades than their peers.  In addition, the State of Washington considers a student chronically absent if they have 10 or more absences in a year, regardless of the reason(s).  Being late to class, even occasionally can make it challenging to get all the information needed to be successful in class, as the introduction to the day’s lesson happens when the bell rings.
  • Planners, and other organizational tools can help students stay on track in their class.  Many families take a few minutes each week to talk to their student about their planner and see the work that is being done in class.
  • Carson Elementary tries to give you many ways to stay informed on how you student is doing in class and what is going on in the school.  In addition to emails and messages from teachers, the Cougar Connection Newsletter goes out weekly.  Facebook posts share some of the great things that are happening around the school and our school website is another resource for information.  If your phone number or email has changed recently, please give us a call so we can keep you up to date.

I am excited and energized to continue working at Carson Elementary this year!  We have been working hard at learning and creating a kinder school community.  Everyday you can see progress being made.  Our school theme this year has been Build on Hope!   I continue to have Hope for our Students, Hope for our School, Hope for our District and Community.  Let's continue to work together to build something great at Carson Elementary!
